The Annual Dinner Meeting Oct. 24 will offer a fresh look at an old favorite topic: the 1904 World's Fair. Our speaker will be Karl M. Kindt III, who has taught about the Fair in courses both online and at Webster University, where he was an adjunct professor for 22 years. The Missouri Historical Archives Museum asked Karl to digitize over 400 glass plate 8x10 negatives taken by the World's Fair photographers. These were never-before-seen images of the Fair.  He found that four of the photographs could be put together to create an amazingly detailed panorama of the Fair which you can zoom in upon, as he will show us during his presentation. He will also bring along some items that were sold at the Fair including a 1904 typewriter, on which you may type your name and email address to get more information from him about the Fair.  His presentation will draw upon 7,000 pages of scrapbooks kept by St. Louis librarians, which he has digitized. Prints of the glass-plate negatives will be available for purchase. The annual meeting will also honor three Time-Honored University City businesses as well as provide an update on the Society's activities. Dinner will be provided by the Pasta House Company, and beverages will be available.
